I feel like everyone on this thread has been extremely immature, except for Nightspade. I suppose it's to be expected, given your ages, and I hope that you take some time to learn about other people as you grow up. For one, homosexuality is not a choice. If you believe you were born straight, then it stands to wager that a gay person was born gay. Unless you think you chose to be attracted to the opposite sex, in which case, you're probably bisexual. I'm assuming you didn't wake up one morning and decide you were straight. Gay people don't do that, either. Gay people do have a point of realizing they're gay, yes, because it's generally assumed that everyone is straight.
But no one would choose to be gay, precisely because of attitudes presented on this thread. No one wants to go through life knowing that the simple act of them being in love disgusts other people. No one wants to be disowned by family and friends because they can't help with whom they fall in love.
Homosexuality is only considered different because society has marked it so. There has been homosexuality in every age, and in fact throughout the animal kingdom. Every species has a gay population. There's nothing wrong with those animals and there's nothing wrong with gay people either. Sexuality is a continuum, there is no black and white. There shouldn't just be three labels for people, (gay, bisexual, straight) there should be no labels, because when it comes down to it all the feelings are the same. Gay people fall in love exactly the same way as straight people. There is no distinction. You think it's gross because society has made you think it's gross. Hopefully you'll learn to accept that the world is full of many kinds of people and they're all as natural as having brown hair or blue eyes.
As for slash, I like it in many cases, but not in Avatar, but I don't really ship anyone in Avatar.

My sole post having anything to do with homosexuality: So guys all alright if they are gay but women aren't? That is descriminating towards women and sets back the equality movement 50 years. I would hope that didn't seem extremely immature. I believe everyone is born bisexual, or perhaps nonsexual by nature, and then are molded by society into one path of thinking, unless the force of society is overwhelmed by biochemical reactions triggered by feelings of love and/or lust within their mind. -yes, Red Sox back on top- Of course there are other factors, such as that person's tendency for rebellion and the ease of that person to be swayed by certain individuals -9-5 Red Sox-. "But no one would choose to be gay, precisely because of attitudes presented on this thread. No one wants to go through life knowing that the simple act of them being in love disgusts other people. No one wants to be disowned by family and friends because they can't help with whom they fall in love." No one? I dunno, people have done plenty of more extreme things in order to leave their mark on the world. One thing I'd like to point out, the sole reason that fundamentalist Catholics think gay people are evil, is because they believe sex for any reason other than procreation is evil. Given that, if they are right, 99.99% of people, straight, gay, bi, whatever, who have had sex are going straight to hell. Just putting that out there.

Thank you for taking me seriously and presenting your point of veiw reasonably. I'm sorry that I said everyone but Nightspade was being immature, as your post was probably one of the most mature things said.
And I suppose I shouldn't say no one, but I don't believe that people who are gay "to make a mark" are actually gay. People go through rebellious phases, and that doesn't make them gay. But you're right, sweeping generalizations are a logical fallacy.
And as for what you said about Catholicism, yes, I agree, and because all forms of Christianity originally splintered off from Catholicism, that's why other denominations of Christianity believe that homosexuality is a sin, as well, in my opinion.
