As most you can tell, Fire Nation has the most powerful and advance Navy of all 4 nations. Actually I haven't seen a Earth Kingdom ship yet, but I think they're made of wood (or rocks). Anyway the Fire Nations ship have very advance, they're made of metal and look at the interior too. Though they aren't equip with guns, but they have capapults. Anyway they have a advance navy for the age (well this is a made up world on the other hand).

Well, the hotter the flame, the stronger the metal. What did you expect? They can't have waged a war on 3 fronts for 100 years and be winning without a powerful Navy to support them. But, we haven't seen much of the Water Tribe's ships.

Well we saw one on "Bato of the Water Tribe" and a couple on "The Waterbending Master". I think the Southern Water Tribe have wooden ships, but the Northern Water Tribe have more powerful ships that are wood and maybe metal.

Well yeah, they are powered entirely by waterbenders. I just think it stinks having a boat that is designed to force you to stand.
the north pole doesn't really need huge ships though, they are all concentrated in one area.

When I finally saw the first half of the season beginning, I was shocked to hear that Katara's village was the entire South Pole Water Tribe. I thought they were other villages in the South Pole, beside Katara's. I'm guessing that snow city is all of the North Pole Water Tribe, there should be more.

There were a lot more, but they were killed by the Fire Nation, notice how the village is in shambles? I mean, they must've had a huge village, but it was made by waterbenders, just like the North Pole's ice buildings, and without waterbenders to maintain the buildings, it probably just fell apart.

Also, remember that all of the men in the tribe shipped out to help the Earth Kingdom in the war. Perhaps everytime a male of the southern tribe reaches a certain age, they are shipped out, kinda like the draft. I mean, the war has been raging for 100 years.

Man...the south pole's gonna have some trouble recuperating. The generation can only start to continue after the little kids grow up, but there's still only like...10-15. Not much selection there @_@

Maybe there are more tribes scattered across the south pole?

I guess that's true. I think it'd be about the same though, with having to wait for the kids to grow up--as far as pushing to fight the south pole isn't gonna have much luck No warriors OR waterbenders, eeek!

Maybe they're neutral?

Hahaha, I like how off-topic this has become.
Really the fire nation just stopped caring about the south pole because they pwned them. All the waterbenders except for katara had been killed, and all the warriors were sent off--so there's no reason for them to attack anymore. Zuko's ship was the only one down there, solely because he was looking for the Avatar.
