Well, in my initial research I found that the word "paku" means a lot of different things, and "pakku" not so much, in fact I couldn't find anything at all on the word "pakku". I'm going to focus on the word "paku" for the rest of the message then, but if anyone can find something on "pakku", I'd much appreciate it. ;D
In Japanese, paku seems to mean something loosely translated to "villa", but that really doesn't have much to do with Pakku, any connections would really be stretching it..
In Korean, the word "paku" means to put into the center (it's also the name of a type of fish, and if I'm not mistaken, is named so because of a reference to some creation mythology). Of all the stand-alone terms for the name Pakku, I like this one the best.
Kanpaku is a term in Cantonese that is roughly a chief advisor to the emperor of sorts. I just think this one is specifically interesting to the name of Pakku because it incorporates another word that is amazing close to Kana, who he was supposed to marry. I mean, you couldn't really call a girl "Kan", since it sounds masculine, but by adding an "a" on the end, voila, you have Kana.
Kana is the name given to a group of characters in Japanese that are used to spell things syllabically.
In Finnish, the word Kana means hen, which I think is kinda funny. Just imagining her and Pakku when they were younger. "We never go out anymore", "We don't talk like we used to", "You'd better listen or else I'm going to leave", or "Stop waterbending you chauvanistic pig and pay attention to me, or I'll leave!" Heh...
I read in once place that Kana means riverfish, but I don't see that again anywhere, and I can't find out what language that's from.
