I didn't intentionally go looking up Aang's name, and though I've read translations before that I don't remember now, I thought this was interesting. In chinese, Aang-Aang means high-spirited, or brave-looking. Seems to match up pretty well

In one of the arctic languages (inuit, pre-russian, something like that) Aang actually means hello.
